Ballet San Jose recently hosted a new, intriguing event, "Unforgettable: An Evening of Glamorous Fashion and Exotic Collectible Automobiles" featuring local designer, Azadeh, including a runway show of her exquisite, custom gowns. Azadeh is a former designer for the Royal Family of Saudi Arabia, who formerly served as the head designer for Bebe stores nationwide. She has run a successful and well-respected couturier salon in the Bay Area for over ten years.
Revelers arrived at Club Auto Sport, a "condominium" facility in San Jose designed to house high-end cars, and were encouraged to take photographs with the rare autos while nibbling on gourmet food and wine provided by local sponsors. After 'oohing' and 'aahing' over the custom cars -- my favorite was a vintage Mercedes Benz -- party-goers were seated for the beginning of the fashion show.
The show was a fun and modern fusion of music, models, ballerinas and gowns. It started out with a gentleman that would give James Bond a run for his money -- as "Diamonds are Forever" played, he prowled onto the floor as models flounced by in their immaculate creations. Azadeh is certainly no stranger to intricate details -- her line features bright colors, lace, beadwork, broaches and even feathers. The upbeat show incorporated some of the ballerinas from the dance company, and was choreographed by Dennis Nahat, artistic director of the ballet.
Azadeh creates seasonal collections for daytime, cocktail, evening and bridal. She also offers custom services, working with clients to ensure they are outfitted in one of a kind creations. She offers two convenient locations in the Bay Area -- San Francisco and Los Altos.
