On December 2nd Global Green USA hosted its 4th annual San Francisco benefit party, called Gorgeous & Green. Held in the LEED certified Bently Reserve building, the event featured appearances by Kate Bosworth, Jennifer Sibel Newsom, and American Idol finalist Elliot Yamin.
Kate Bosworth wore a zippy LBD. Designed by 3.1 Philip Lim, the dress was made from an all natural fabric blend of hemp and silk, which was hand-dyed with eco-friendly coloring. The zippers were recycled from surplus remnants.
Global Green USA was founded in 1993 and is the American affiliate of President Gorbachev's Green Cross International. Their mission is to support projects that address stemming global climate change, specifically by the development of green buildings in cities around the country. Proceeds from the event went to Global Green's initiatives, including works to rebuild New Orleans green.
Gorgeous & Green was co-chaired by Zem Joaquin, Matt Peterson, and Nadine Weil. The VIP dinner included a performance by Elliott Yamin and a presentation by climate expert Dr. Stephen Schneider. The evening concluded with a eco-friendly fashion show produced by Clarissa Nicosia and Lily Achatz and featuring jewelry by local designer Amber Marie Bently.
