The Pinkberry craze has finally arrived in Northern California. Did it launch in San Francisco first before making its way south? No! The much anticipated frozen yogurt establishment has decided to show the South Bay love and set up shop at Santana Row. This is good news for all of us fans who live and work nearby.
To show even more love, Pinkberry threw a launch party to introduce their unique frozen dessert to the Row-burbanites. The special tented event took place just outside the new store location. As I entered the exclusive VIP event, M.I.A.'s "Bucky Done Gun' was blasting. Guest DJ, Benji Madden, of the band Good Charlotte, was 'swirling' music and igniting the decks. Wine was flowing. Pinkberry tasting staff handed out unlimited cups of the tart, chilly yogurt to the attendees. Toppings were for the taking. Pinkberry bags with gift t-shirts inside were being toted around like badges of honor. Photographers were snapping pictures of John Feldmann and Jason Evigan. Pinkberry had arrived, and in L.A. style.
It was time to mingle. I spied Joe Manganiello, from the show 'One Tree Hill' and 'Behind Enemy Lines'. He was eating his fair share of the delightful dessert. "I'm on my fifth one," he admitted with a handsome grin. "But I have to say my favorite combination has been pomegranate, mochi, and Coco Pebbles." "Oh really, and what would one call that combination," I asked. "The Tall Joe," he quipped back, with a sly smile.
Todd Putnam, VP of Marketing was on hand to greet guest and ensure all had a wonderful experience.
SFBayStyle: I love the lamps.
Todd Putnam: Yes the interior design was created by Young Lee, one of the owners.
SFBayStyle: Why only two main flavors?
Todd Putnam: The two staple flavors will be Original and Green Tea. However, we will promote different seasonal flavors like Pomegranate. Shelly, the other half of the ownership is responsible for creating the different flavors. To combine our yogurt with another flavor can be a complicated taste profile. It takes time and you have to get it right.
SFBayStyle: What's your combo? And what do you call it?
Todd Putnam: The Island Fusion which consist of raspberry, mango, and coconut. And with the kids, you know, you are just happy to get them eating something healthy with fruit in it.
When I left, the crowd was starting to wane but the lines in the store where still going strong. I snagged another Original, straight up, for my husband....It did not even make it out of the Santana Row parking lot. Pinkberry welcome to the neighborhood.
I read & enjoyed this blog. Its so much interesting.....
