Rocket Dog Rescue Coolest Stuff on Earth Sale

 

Rocket Dog Rescue is having a big ol' sale this weekend, July 25 & 26th, with all proceeds helping dogs in need, like Sam. Little German Shephard puppy Sam was hit by a car and left in a ditch. He ended up in a shelter for two weeks with a dislocated hip and broken leg, ouch! But now, thanks to Rocket Dog Rescue he's getting care.

To continue helping Sam and others like him, RRR needs us. So hey, put this feel-good task on your To Do List.

Dressing up your little man

Everyone seems to say that shopping for boys isn't nearly as fun as shopping for girls. That may be true, but perhaps that makes finding a nice outfit even more exciting. This week I'm shopping ahead for recitals, weddings, and other special occasions coming up throughout the new year - and hoping to get some good deals while avoiding those stressful, last-minute searches down the road.

Blue Dot Boutique Sale

CB2 Moving Into Union Square

Union Square has been undergoing a lot of changes lately in terms of retail stores and one of the latest additions to the neighborhood is Crate & Barrel's lower end store, CB2. The San Francisco Store will be just around the corner from its big sister and it's a great place to get furniture that looks great but can take a few nicks from kids, pets, dorm living, etc. as well as a good place to find accent pieces that fit into anyone's home. Mostly modern, CB2 sells furniture and accessories.

CB2 is also having a 50% off sale right now online, so don't wait for the store to open to check them out.

Thread Lounge Is Back In Town

I was on my way for my daily dose of Fraiche yogurt, when my kids noticed the sign. "That sale is back!" They are right - the Thread Lounge designer sample sale is back in Palo Alto. (There is a permanent sale in S.F. as well.) As I combed through the racks, I saw some pretty impressive labels. There is a collection of Copenhagen designer, Ivan Grundahl's pieces, as well as some cute Catherine Malandrino dresses. The collections change almost daily, and styles are limited. They are expecting a delivery of ten racks of kids clothing in the near future.

The Thread Lounge is located at 203 Forest  at Emerson in downtown Palo Alto. Hours are 11-7.

Kate Spade Private Sale

Thanks to an e-mail from Top Button, I was able to find out about the Kate Spade private sale online. I have already ordered my green boar skin "Wellesley Sam" bag, and  am trying to decide if I want the neon pink "Lady" ballet flats.

I collect ballet flats, but all sales are final. What if they don't fit? I have been a fan of Kate Spade since 1994 when I wandered into her first N.Y.C. boutique. I owned many of her famed micro fiber bags, and even sported a Kate Spade diaper bag for years. The designs now include shoes, apparel, accessories and lovely stationery.  The sale is only online.  Kate Spade boutiques are located in Palo Alto and San Francisco.

Department Stores Unloading Fab Designer Handbags

Pre-fall is here (yeah, already) and everybody's having sales. Add that to the state of the economy, and department stores in particular are rushing to get rid of inventory in time for fall. Usually, the bargain tables leave a lot to be desired, but this week, we (Pamela, Stefania and I) all individually discovered some incredible deals on bags from 2007-2008 including Prada, Gucci, Dolce & Gabbana, Juicy Couture, Valentino, and Jimmy Choo. Where? Neiman Marcus at Stanford had some good ones (going fast) and Saks in Union Square did as well.

What's really unusual this sale is that it's not just a couple of tables full of scraps that are on sale - it's bags on the shelves as well. So if you're in the market for a new handbag, run, don't walk...

Glug Sample Sale

Calling all hip parents: One of my favorite S.F. designed kids' lines is having a sample sale this Wednesday. Glug, the brain child of a husband and wife team is a fresh, modern line. The designs  appeal to both kids and parents. My "fashionista" eight year-old daughter will wear the shirts as well my six year-old son. I am waiting for Glug to design tees in my size.

Hush... Sale in Walnut Creek this Weekend

Hush is the name of the store, but the word is already out about their sale. Thanks to the tip from Daily Candy's weekend edition, we heard about what sounds like a great sale in Walnut Creek at the trendy boutique. Their sale is from 10-6 on Saturday and 11-5 Sunday (1354 N. Main St.) They're reportedly selling some items for up to 40% off, including 3.1 Phillip Lim, Alexander Wang, and Clu. Call 925-944-4874 for more info.

Meli Meli Warehouse Sale in Palo Alto on Friday

Meli Meli, the Peninsula based European and vintage inspired children's line is holding a warehouse sale. Meli Meli offers some of the most elegant choices for girls sizes 2-12 that I have seen. (Get a dress for that Mother's Day brunch.) You can save up to seventy percent off on select pieces. The sale will be held at 809 San Antonio Road, #6, in Palo Alto. Morning Glory Sidewalk Sale Friday & Saturday

"Everybody loves a good sidewalk sale" reads the invitation, and Morning Glory is the store. One of my very favorite boutiques in the Bay Area, Morning Glory, at 1436 Burlingame Ave. in Burlingame, sells feminine, flattering and unique clothes, accessories and jewelry for women.

I've been a shopper there for a decade and I always find something I like - usually dresses, sometimes jackets or corsets, nearly always jewelry and definitely hats. I don't know if I can do them justice by trying to describe their style, but it has elements of Victorian, Edwardian, 20's, 40's, and a bit bohemian. (It's also a great place to buy new clothes that look vintage.) The designers they work with are from all over, and prices are in the BCBG/Cassis range, for those who shop at those stores. New Lucy Store Opens Today in Embarcadero 3

Lucy, a name that's become synonymous with comfy athletic clothing for the gym, yoga and home, is adding new stores including one opening today at Embarcadero Center 3. Lucy has great sales too. I'm a big fan of their comfy pants and zip-up jackets.

The grand opening party will be from 4-7pm on Thursday March 27th.

The Last of Winter’s Ski Buys

Yeah, I know... it's feeling like spring here in the Bay Area. But all winter long, I've been jonezin' for a new ski jacket. Ski week was a great time for markdowns, and the inventory is still good. So why not? Deals abound, and there's plenty of snow in Tahoe for spring break. Besides, whether or not you have a few more runs planned, the gear will all be ready to go when the next season comes around.

At the boutique Mine at Northstar, I found plenty of quality kids' wear on sale, including a darling, fit-for-a-princess jacket and pants set from Obermeyer - it's aptly named Belle. One of the wonderful things about Obermeyer is that the sleeves and pant legs are made with a bit of extra material, so when the clothes get too short, you can easily pick out a few stitches to let them out for a bit more wear. My son's jacket from last year will easily last through the next ski season.

Jacadi Winter Clearance

I found myself in Burlingame yesterday morning and saw the Jacadi winter clearance is still going strong. Spring collections have already taken over trendier retailers, but most of the Jacadi store is marked down 30-50%. Though I try to be cautious about end-of-season sales, Jacadi styles are very much on the classic side with subtle color palettes and nice quality fabrics that pass down well to younger ones.

While many items are better-than-everyday pieces, the basics knits wash and wear beautifully - and it's always nice to have a few things to dress up the usual kidwear.

Sale at Honeys and Heroes

I am a sale rack shopper. I have just found the best racks to search through for unique clothes for my kids. Honeys and Heroes, with locations in San Francisco and Palo Alto is having a truly amazing end of season sale. Designers like Chipie, Kingsley, Ben Sherman, Ella Moss , Splendid and more all at fifty percent off. My son found a pair of Seven jeans for half off. Your kid can be hip and cool for half the price! My kids look like I took a trip to Fred Segal in L.A. or Barneys to outfit them. All I did was go to my local Honeys and Heroes for uber chic kids designs. The Palo Alto boutique is located in the Town and Country Shopping Center. The boutique owner, Alanna Klein does many fund raisers for local charities.  I will be posting about an upcoming event on Feb. 12th, so mark your calendars.

Boden Trunk Show in Menlo Park & Woodside Today Through Wednesday

Boden, British company with clothing for men and women and mini Boden, clothing for children, are two of my favorite catalogs to receive in the mail each season. Full of colorful, adorable items, it's hard to resist buying one or two. But since Boden has no stores in the US, there's usually no way to try things on here or gauge sizes. Enter trunk shows, provided by locals who love the products.

Today in Menlo Park until 3pm, Stella Bergan is hosting a trunk show at her home, 302 Leland Avenue. The show continues tomorrow from 10am-2pm and then moves to another home in Woodside Tuesday and Wednesday from 9am-2pm at 935 Canada Road. The deal is that most of the items are the same as in the catalogs, with a few additional items, the discount is the same as the latest 10% off catalogs sent out, but buyers don't have to pay for tax or shipping. So that's where you save money by stopping by. Even if you don't have much time to try things on, check out the web site or catalog, mark what you want and just fill out a form at the show to save money.
