The economy may be hurting, but people on the Peninsula just can't get enough of cupcakes. Kara's opened a few weeks ago in the Town and Country shopping center. Lines are out the door. Sprinkles opens today in the Stanford Mall. Sprinkles held a grand opening party this Sunday, and reports are that the cupcakes were just amazing. I was impressed by the invitation, a box of two beautiful cupcakes that my family devoured. My kids were quite upset to miss the festivities, but I assured them I would be picking up some cupcakes today! Now for my personal plea..will one of you cupcake makers please make some dairy free cupcakes so people with allergies can enjoy these goodies too?
Sprinkles is AMAZING! Candace, the owner, is one of the sweetest people I've ever met, and her cupcakes are to die for. There are a lot of copycat cupcakes (copy cakes?) out there, but this is the original and the best! Everyone needs to stop by for a little cup of heaven!

Those do look incredibly tasty. I think that if I had more time, I would want to open up a cupcake shoppe too. Glad you stopped by!

Just a tip .. to avoid waiting in the Sprinkles line, you can pre- order and walk right in!

Have to say I much prefer Kara's (and not only because they are local). Sprinkles are way too sweet and have just too much frosting on top. (I am not a frosting fan so take it FWIW.) To me, Kara's quality is better--I can taste the freshness and the high-quality of the ingredients they use.
My sis brought over an assortment os Sprinkles cupcakes for my bday and I am sorry to report that the choc and red velvet tasted "old" while the apple ones were fresh and delish. I've been to Kara's three times now and not only is service faster, and quality better, but I've not had a stale 'cake yet. Go Kara's!
